While raising her son, she illustrated greeting cards and wrapping paper, and free-lanced in painting, decorating, sewing, crafts, and designing homes and additions for herself, friends and family. Frequent trips to New England stimulated her love of primitive-style homes, decor, and antiques. All of Sherry's artistic abilities and design skills were brought to bear in creating Yankee Cricket Bed and Breakfast with her husband Bill. She designed the home and its decor, stenciled floors and walls, planted the herb garden, and painted the dining room mural reminiscent of the New England countryside
